Untangle delivers an integrated family of applications that help you simplify and consolidate the network and security products you need, in one place at the network gateway. Open Source (and Free): Most of the applications are open source and free to use under the GNU General Public License v2 (GPL). This includes updates to signatures, block lists, and category lists, as well as upgrades to the applications themselves. The applications run on the Untangle Gateway Platform, which is also open source and free under the GPL.
Commercial add-on: The Professional Package add-on requires a commercial license and is how Untangle supports its open source efforts. This add-on delivers live support, advanced management capabilities, and additional access options. It addresses a number of business needs including enforcing multiple web usage policies, integrating with an Active Directory implementation, providing "anytime anywhere" access to the intranet.

Hosted Solutions ( SaaS )
Companies need flexibility.
Sometimes it is not appropriate to invest in infrastructure because your business requirements are changing etc. Or perhaps you do not have the in house expertise to maintain your own infrastructure.
Hosted solutions are solutions where the infrastructure running the solution is not your and it is not installed at your site. Instead the solution runs on our infrastructure ( with our licencing ) and you utilise the solution remotely.
Software as a service ( SaaS ) is similar, whilst the licencing remains ours , the solution can be implemented on our infrastructure or your own.
